Two religious systems have
come out of the scriptures we call the bible.

But even the most orthodox
of Jews will admit that GeHenna (named after the dump outside Jerusalem that existed in the Valley
of Hinnom and whilch was considered the most unclean
of places, where the «fires never went
out» and the «worm never died»... a reference seen in Isaiah...) was an idea adapted from Babylonian theology (taken from Zoasterism), not an idea originally developed in the Tanach (thus you will find references to «the world to
come» and «tikkun Olam» only in the Talmud, not in the Tanach... which for Jews is not a problem since our view
of «
scripture» is not the same as a Christians).
I
came out of the Methodist tradition which is based on the Wesleyan Quadrilateral which demands that faith be based on four elements —
Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience.
Nevertheless, the recognition
of the similarity
of the problematic,
coming as it does
out of that which both communities accept as Sacred
Scripture — the Hebrew Bible — can lead to a new mutuality.
My point to Steve was to point
out that we do
come to different conclusions using the same
scripture therefore neither
of us can claim scriptural authority.
And none differed over the
Scripture except those who were given it — after the clear proofs
came to them —
out of jealous animosity among themselves.
I
come to wonder, if what we read
out of scripture needs a proper interpretation
of it following some basic principals to be in the proper context and we don't follow those simple rules, then what we interpret creates in our minds a false will
of God and we follow this so called «Gods will» are we going down the wrong path?
Similarly, when it
comes to biblical interpretation within evangelicalism, I've experienced a sort
of «flattening -
out»
of Scripture in which the words
of David carry the same weight as the words
of Paul, which carry the same weight as the words
of Christ.
In modern times, Christians, upon further analysis
of scripture, have
come to find
out that they were wrong for millennia and that God had been telling us
of an ancient, round earth this whole time.
While there was a certain security to having this infallible roadmap on my nightstand, there was also a deep fear that
came along with my belief that if just one thing was
out of place in
Scripture, if just one thing didn't resolve, the whole thing would fall apart.
If you have stepped
out somewhere where you shouldn't have done then the conviction as a child
of God will surely
come but I tell you this, if Satan did not hold back on trying to kill the baby Jesus, and many children were slaughtered in that process, if he even thought he knew the
scriptures so well he could try to deceive Jesus, and he did try then you can be sure that for every believer there is an adversary who would do anything to stop you from finding the forgiveness and grace
of God that has the power to wash you clean
of anything.
They even remember
Scriptures, learned in childhood, which on troubled days
come up
out of the garnered treasures
of their recollection to comfort them: «The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,» or in a happy mistranslation by a little child, «The Lord is my shepherd; that's all I want.»
if more would read and study the
scriptures we would not be in need
of so many teachers and buildings... we would
come out of her and carry the good news with our hearts hands and feet.
With a lot
of the so called Christians I have encountered, it seems that they distort
scripture to fit a political agenda.I am convinced that if Jesus were walking the earth today, and
came into the home
of a born again, with his message
of mercy, forgiveness, charity, and love, they would call him a pinko or a hippie freak, and throw him
out on his backside.Constitutionally, our government can not create a state religion or interfere in the inner workings
of the churches.It should work in both directions.
At Washington Bible College and Capital Bible Seminary they taught you how to think thru heretical arguments in light
of scripture and
come to reason it
out for yourself AND how can any CHristian Apologist be worth anything if they don't know and understand the heretical views that oppose Orthodox Christianity!?
Scripture does speak
of a group
coming out of the Great Tribulation; but whether some will be from those left behind, or not, was not made clear to me in this dream - vision.

of Scripture is that Man IS a Body AND Spirit in combination — and the experience
of this interaction is the ephemeral thing we call Consciousness — «Soul».
As you all know, I've been a bit critical
of the conservative Christian community for «picking and choosing» when it
comes to applying
Scripture to public life, so I couldn't help but chuckle when Jack Black brought
out the shrimp cocktail and called it an «abomination.»
For instance, «Blessed are the pure in heart» is an affirmation, not a command, but how many times do the great affirmations
of the
Scriptures come out as imperatives in the pulpit.
Our beliefs are not composed
out of thin air, but they
come from the revelation
of Jesus Christ and were handed down to His disciples through
Scriptures and the Church, which is the «pillar and the foundation
of the truth» (1 Timothy 3:15).
You have to twist
scripture or take it
out of context to
come to that conclusion.
The
scripture do tell us that he will be from the «seed»
of David, YHWHs chosen, and that he will
come out of Judah (Yhwhudah), in Micah 5:1,2.

of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is from their brethren, though these are
come out of the loins
of Abraham: Error # 1 - According to this
scripture it was a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the Law
That's right, if you look at the
scripture the translation
of Peter
comes from the Greek «petra» The Lord Jesus Christ is merely using Simon Peter's name to point
out THE TRUTH
of WHO HE IS, not who «peter is.»
We're all sinners, and though the characters
of The Witch purport to understand this idea by directly quoting
Scripture, what they live
out looks nothing like the humility that
comes from truly believing it.
Out of meditation on
Scripture comes guidance for prayer.
The church is made up
of humans, therefore faults are inevitable, and yes the fundamental church have taken some stands that are not biblical, infact if you read the bible and read the chapters, not just the verses they claim their beliefs
come from, you will realise that alot
of fundamentalists take the
scripture out of context, telling the churcht hat the bible tells us one thing when infact it tells us another.
This led some in Matthew's church (he had
come out to a small group) to accuse him
of «elevating his experience over
Scripture.»
If you don't like gay people - stop hiding behind your interpretation
of scripture and just
come out as a bigot.
Many
of the meditative phrases or sayings which I attach to the rhythms
of breathing

of the church.
