I've been trying to parse my thoughts on the game and I think I've come up with something that makes sense to me — Shin Megami Tensei IV feels like it was made by a small indie developer who got a hold of a LOT more money than they're used to (but not a lot of money where big - budget development is concerned).

The timing of this update and GOG.com reviving the old servers for the 13 - year - old game came at the most opportune time, because EA had really messed up with DICE's outing of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 by having premium loot boxes added to the game where players could spend real money to acquire loot boxes and upgrade their characters.
