As the weather turns cold here in New York I start to crave the hearty
comfort foods I grew up on and simple mashed potatoes is at the top of the list of foods I dream about all day long.
I grew up living off of cornbread and other southern staples, so you can imagine that now I get a huge hankering for the southern
comfort food I grew up loving dearly.

I do tend to be led by making favourite
comfort foods healthier but often I just get creative with what's in the fridge — I hate to waste

grow my own vegetables so that does dictate what I create.
By now I am almost fully pledged vegetarian (I still eat fish sometimes though, but that need decreases) As a former meat eater I enjoyed Golabki, Flaki and Pierogies, both are polish cuisines because even though I was born in Germany, half my heritage (specific: my mother) comes from Poland and I
grew up with traditional polish cuisine, which still counts as
comfort food to me (Omg I need to mention I tried so often to make Bigos Vegetarian without sacraficing the taste, but it's still a challange) Bu talso my other half of heritage come from Hungary, I also enjoy traditional Hungarian
food like Langos and Palacsinta (so good) Basically I've been brought up with no fear from anything new, I have no prejudices, try everything I can and enjoy home cooked meals made with local basic ingridients the most!
Hangover trends include gluten - free, organic, locally -
grown stuff, heirloom vegetables, pressure cookers, crock pots, and overhauled
comfort food (less fat, more flavor) along with anything fig and balsamic vinegar (yes, again).
Blame it on my Italian roots or the fact that I
grew up eating my grandma's homemade sauce at least twice a week, but pasta will ALWAYS be a
comfort food for me.
PB&J will always be
comfort food to me and your added touch of sweetness will, certainly, make all the kids happy... even the
