Not all doctors or midwives have
experience with giving
birth in water or feel
comfortable with the idea.
The best thing you can do to safeguard against this is to educate yourself and sign yourself up for the most natural
birth experience that you're
comfortable with.
The doctor on call may simply not be
comfortable with a complete breech
birth because he or she hasn't had any
experience with them before.
Eventually I felt
comfortable enough to have another baby, and I am happy to report that I had a wonderful
experience the second time around: a med - free, intervention - free water
birth and a healthy 9 and a half pound baby boy, with no post-partum complications.
Research shows that women who have continuous support during labor have a shorter, more
comfortable labor,
experience fewer interventions (including cesarean
birth), and use pain medication less often.
So, after contemplating where I'd feel most
comfortable, which local providers I felt respected me most and what type of

birth at home with midwives.
