Assuming we are talking about the 60s and 70s, the «golden age» (think Pan Am) has its reputation for three primary reasons: the jetliner had come into service making travel
comfortable and fast for the first time; the newly opened world for long distance travel was by nature
glamorous since it was newly accessible; and perhaps most important, it was still expensive, even though less so
than during the prop plane era.
