Here's a look at some of the most interesting digital
comics coming out this week.

If I need to see a new
comic the
week it
comes out, I appreciate the convenience of comiXology, but if I really want to keep a story I'd rather have the collected edition in print form anyway.
It's interesting that Viz's most popular titles, Bleach and Naruto, usually make the Nook charts the
week they
come out; there must be a substantial manga - reading community, which occasionally dwarfs the Peanuts fans and the folks who prefer free downloads of action
comics featuring scantily clad ladies.
This is a bit of a misnomer, as it doesn't include the
comic Forever Evil — that's full price, as it just
came out this
week.
New digital and printed
comics normally
come out every single
week on Wednesday.
And the
comics are pretty fresh: That issue # 12 of My Little Pony is actually a pre-order, as it doesn't
come out till the end of the month, and the Star Trek
comic is just
out this
week.
The
comic, which
came out this
week, featured four winning drawings by Jeremy Roberts, but the bathtub scene was not among them.
All the top ten
comics are fresh this
week except for X-Factor, which is positively ancient by internet standards, having
come out in 1993 in print and last March in digital.
These are very canon - focused prequel
comics that lead into the movie, and then this
week, we had a
comic coming out that's a sequel to the movie, that tells events that happened right after the movie.
It's hard to keep track of the most popular digital
comics, because unlike the print - book best - seller lists, which
come out once a
week, digital -
comics lists are updated more or less continuously.
It's also true, though, that iBooks users aren't scrambling to get this
week's new
comics; the only title on the chart that
came out this
week is The Walking Dead # 118, although it's true that the number 11 slot is pre-orders of My Little Pony: Micro Series # 10 — Luna, which is
out next
week.
And the way the service was intentionally handicapped to inexplicably not include full runs of popular
comics and not offer new releases until
weeks or months after they
came out always felt a little underhanded to me.
It was a fairly big
week for titles I really wanted to
come out so I was happy to arrive at my local
comic shop and find nearly all the books I wanted were on the shelf waiting for me — and then some!
Fear Itself, AVX, Age of Ultron tend to have four or five
comics coming out every single
week.

The first nine titles are all new
comics that
came out this
week, but number 10 is one of those Image graphic novels that was on sale over the weekend (the sale lasts till midnight on Monday, so you still have time to grab it).

Starting this
week in the digital
comics magazine Shonen Jump Alpha, is the newest «fresh from Japan» manga (literally fresh, it's new and
came out in Japan two
weeks ago), Takama - Ga - Hara!
DC has an interesting strategy for this
comic: It will launch as a digital
comic on April 13, with a new digital chapter
coming out each
week.
I bought 16 before I started pirating
comics and I buy 16 now that I pirate basically everything that
comes out every
week.
In the case of JL: GL, the first issue was sold
out by the time I made it to the
comic shop the
week it
came out, so I decided that instead of hunting down a copy I would just wait for the trade.
Each
week, armed with the joy, heartbreak, and frustration of 30 + years of reading X-Men
comics, we read every new X-book that
comes out, recap the events, provide the historical context so you can read it on Marvel Unlimited, and wonder when Marvel will let Chris Claremont write something again.
It's been two
weeks since
Comic - Con, but reports are still
coming out with video and transcripts from the manga panels that were held that.
Since this
week's column mentions a Moebius reprint, an oblique dig at the unavailability of his
comics in English, a Humanoids release, and something that we all should ignore but it's sadly related to WATCHMEN... I'd like to point
out that Mr. Dave Gibbons himself has
come out of the blue to support a certain movement that is rapidly approaching 1.000 supporters:

week, it looks like we're on an upward swing with Gyrostarr (High Voltage Software, 1 - 4 players, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 700 Wii Points)
coming out for WiiWare along with Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone -
Comic Mischief, 500 Wii Points) and BURNING FIGHT (NEOGEO, 1 - 2 players, Rated E10 + for Everyone 10 and Older - Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence, 900 Wii Points) for the Virtual Console.
