However, the real push in the
industry needs to be to figure out how to get people that aren't reading
comics (men and women alike) into
comic stories (or digital stores... wherever
comics are sold).
I know we are reaching some consumers who have never bought a
comic before, but I think as an
industry we
need to do better on this end.
But the
comics industry seems convinced (or at least quite hopeful) that the coming digital
comic revolution, in which devices such as the iPad eliminate the
need for reading printed media, will end up driving readers into
comic - book stores in search for the good stuff — on paper.
It's likely that such talk might lead to some brainstorming and action that could result in expanding and improving distribution and outlet venues, and give more say in how the
industry functions, to the businesses who actually
need printed
comics sales because they don't make the majority of their profits from IP outsourcing.
I also talked a little about how the
comics industry just
needs to get it over with and cheat on retailers with digital
comics already.

comic book
