It's a credit to Romanek and Williams that Sy commands much sympathy; for most of the film he's convincingly played and treated as being odd and quirky but not necessarily threatening.
Suppose the employee is a strongly principled atheist: would he or she get as much legal sympathy as someone who believes that a supernatural being commands acceptance of the same principles?
