Federal agencies are less likely to receive blasts
of comments on rules and regulations, and I've seen agency officials step back and reconsider an
action when they're deluged with citizen messages (though
of course, we've all also seen agencies ignore vast amounts
of public input and do exactly the opposite what's asked).
This kind
of interaction also helps ensure that they see your content in the future, since
comments and «Likes»
on your page elevate your posts in your fans» news feeds, and
of course engaged supporters are also more likely to forward your
action alerts or other posts to their friends and help spread the word that way.
And if you
comment on something that «is outside my field
of expertise» and are corrected, then repeating the claims and insulting the person correcting you is probably not a wise
course of action.
