D. (1) No
license shall be issued unless the
commissioner, upon investigation, finds that the financial responsibility, character, and fitness o f the applicant, its owners, its partners if the applicant is a partnership, its members if the applicant is a limited liability
company, and its officers and directors if the applicant is a corporation, are such as to warrant a belief that the business will be conducted honestly and fairly within the purposes of this Part.
The life settlement business is commonly regulated by the state's insurance department or the securities
commissioner, but it is still good practice to ask the
company if it's
licensed.
