The Diocese of Buffalo announced it would be set up a voluntary program to
compensate victims of clergy sexual abuse, after a retired priest admitted in an interview with the Buffalo News that he'd had sexual contact with dozens of boys and was sent by the diocese to a treatment facility in Canada.
Bishop Richard J. Malone,
of the Catholic Diocese
of Buffalo, will put on the market his own residence, a palatial mansion on one
of Buffalo's most exclusive streets that's been home to Buffalo bishops since 1952, to help
compensate childhood
victims of clergy sexual abuse.
