Mayor Rob Ford can
complain about bike lanes all he wants but the fact is, when you start hitting numbers like 45 % everyone has to pay attention, these are serious numbers.
Sue - Ann Levy is not alone in
her complaining about bike lanes slowing down cars; there is a campaign in the east end of Toronto to remove a bike lane on Woodbine Avenue that isn't even completed yet.

It doesn't matter what it is, we
complain about it —
bikes rolling through stop signs, cars stopped in the
bike lane,
bikes going the wrong way on a one - way street, pedestrians crossing at mid-block, etc..
Really, it is hard to come to any conclusion other than
bike lanes work well, get people out of cars, and make everybody happy except for a few people who
complain about the loss of parking, and of course, Rob Ford.
We

So in the end, if you want fewer cars on the road slowing you down, lower taxes for road maintenance, and reduced health care costs, what you want to do is build more
bike lanes, promote cycling, subsidize
bike share programmes and stop
complaining about cyclists getting a free ride.
