The single player
component of a racing game is of course incomplete if there is no split - screen to offer here.
Not exact matches
It nails some
of the key points
of the drift -
racing genre, but Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT lacks practically every other
component needed to make an exciting
racing game.
The intriguing thing here is that it sets up a
race with two key
components of The Imitation
Game who are not part
of this.
Disney has brought in another British studio, Sumo Digital, to fix this - there's a whole
racing component of the
game, now, rather than just the Toy Box creative mode.
The bike customisation has been expanded in comparison to the first
game as it now spans over 1,200 parts and over 600 liveries which makes it even more reminiscent to that
of the original Gran Turismo as you start off with the basic form
of the bike and progressively improve it via a variety
of categories including engine; transmission; brakes and suspension; appearance; and wheels, while every category has its own
components which can be upgraded with in -
game currency referred to as credits which are earned by completing
races as high up the field as possible.
The bike customisation is reminiscent to that
of the original Gran Turismo as you start off with the basic form
of the bike and progressively improve the performance via a variety
of categories including exhaust; tyres; rims; suspension; and brake discs, while every category has multiple brands providing their
components at various qualities which can be upgraded with in -
game currency which is earned by completing
races as high up the field as possible.
Bearing in mind that it was impossible for me to assess the quality and stability
of the online
components of the
game, but it was still clear to see that Project CARS is a bloody good
racing simulator.
F1 has been split - screen multiplayer on PlayStation consoles since F1 ’97 on PS1 and especially given the fact that the final F1
game on PS1 being F1 2001 quite sensationally featured two player split - screen multiplayer for a full grid
of cars in a championship mode with in -
race commentary from Murray Walker and Martin Brundle just goes to show how possible and fully featured a split - screen
component can be in an F1
game.
Grand Theft Auto 5's ever - growing online
component GTA Online has outlined its plans moving into 2017, which includes new stunt
races,
game modes, vehicles, and missions — the latter
of which will involve players at some stage fighting «for supremacy in the illegal arms trade and wage war with the latest in high - powered military hardware.»
But that is not all, as with any
racing game worth its salt, Project CARS also comes with an online
component giving you the option to
race with thousands
of people online.
The latest Formula 1
game which hits in September this year will also include an extensive online multiplayer
component allowing players to take on their friends and the rest
of the world in a variety
of racing modes.
It makes plenty
of sense for a
racing game to be loaded with social and connected features such as Forza 5's novel Drivatar system but MGS V's online
component?
A kart
game doesn't have to have an online
component, but the lack
of it in Galactic
Racing is just another indicator
of how little effort was put into this title.
