My argument started with the premise that there is only one simple
condition of eternal life.
Eternal life is certainly not without repentance, and it is such a vital component of being «born again» that it can be said to be
a condition of eternal life.
Faith alone in Christ alone is the only
condition of eternal life.

Indeed, I tend to play melodies that regard show the hugeness
of God, His open arms to all mankind, his love without any
conditions, the giving
of eternal life to anyone that calls upon him, and his willingness to tolerate all forms
of religion... even my own.
But those who take that statement as a sufficient declaration

of men, but also to declare that, and how, man has to shape this world
of his and its
conditions according to the will
of God.
Yes, the «
CONDITION» was that we had to believe, but when we saw the truth that Jesus was the giver
of eternal life, FAITH HAPPENED.
Repentance is something all people should do to avoid the devastating consequences
of sin, but repentance is not a
condition for receiving
eternal life.

conditions for receiving
eternal life is that they equate terms and ideas in the Bible with
eternal life which do not refer to
eternal life.

of the Russian Orthodox Church has felt sometimes the WCC has not placed its thinking on the social content
of salvation solidly within the perspective
of the ultimate goal

eternal life in God, «with the result that appropriation
of eternal life is made to depend on social
conditions rather than social
conditions on the appropriation
of eternal life»; and the Ecumenical Patriarchate has warned us that in «turning towards the anguish
of the man today», the WCC must not forget the basic truth that man sees himself as hungering for an answer to a basic question over and beyond his acute interest in the most vital socio - political problems
of the day.»
Concern with material continuity also fed theological and artistic speculation about the fate
of cut fingernails and hair, the
condition and presence
of genitals, the age and stature
of the resurrected body, the bodies
of the saints, the fate
of relics, whether bodies in hell are reassembled as completely as those given
eternal life and how and whether digested body parts are regurgitated at the resurrection.
Grace means the way in which God deals with our human
condition, his active purpose for the creation, his power to redeem and save history from its bloody tragedy, his offer
of eternal life.
What this means is that as long as the word «saved» is incorrectly equated with
eternal life, the concept
of «once saved, always saved» can easily be refuted by pointing out the many places in the Bible where people can lose their «salvation» because they don't obey God or fulfill the
conditions of «salvation.»
The work
of the
Eternal Word
of God, present in men spermatically, as Justin Martyr for example put it, offered this possibility
of salvation, so that the historical accident
of having
lived after Jesus or having heard about Him was not the necessary
condition of the salvation which God purposed for His human children.
So in this passage, while repentance is a
condition for «salvation» (whatever that means in the context
of 2 Cor 7), the Bible doesn't say anywhere that repentance is a
condition for
eternal life.
Repentance is vitally important for
living life with God and with each other the way
life was meant to be
lived, but repentance is not one
of the
conditions for receiving
eternal life from God.
We would no longer have one
condition for
eternal life, «faith alone in Christ alone», but a series
of asending steps that must be assented to before they get to «promise
of eternal life by faith alone in Christ».
But we are found with a multitude
of verses that
condition eternal life on simple faith in Christ for it.
Martin it is not by works that we are saved but by grace that none should boast.Works do not get us us closer to God but good works come from a heart that loves God and desires to please him.John 3:16 is clear if we believe in Jesus Christ we shall have
eternal life it is based not on what we do or have done but by the grace
of God that has been poured out upon us because
of Jesus Christ.God always gives us assurances or promises the
condition to receive
eternal life is to believe in Jesus Christ as the one who has saved from our sin.Personally i believe that the continued walk will determine our reward from the Lord again its not based on our effort but a trust or faith in God.This does not effect the gift
of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
