you must have served at least 181 days of continuous active duty and been discharged or released under
conditions other than dishonorable.
Eligibility for service members and veterans is based on length of service, and the applicant must have been discharged — if not currently on active duty — under
conditions other than dishonorable.
If you served on active duty during the Gulf War, you must have completed 24 months of continuous active duty or the full period (at least 90 days) for which you were called or ordered to active duty, and been discharged under
conditions other than dishonorable.
If you were separated from service which began after these dates, you must have completed 24 months of continuous active duty or the full period (at least 181 days) for which you were ordered or called to active duty and been discharged under
conditions other than dishonorable.
To get a Certificate of Eligibility, you must have been discharged under
conditions other than dishonorable and meet the service requirements below:
Anyone who has served in the military, and was discharged from service under
conditions other than dishonorable is eligible for veterans» benefits.
An eligible veteran is a person who served on active duty in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, and who, (except for a service member on active duty) was discharged or released from active duty under
conditions other than dishonorable; or Members of the Reserves and National Guard are eligible upon completion of 6 years of service; or Unmarried surviving spouses of veterans who died as a result of service or service - connected causes.
Has been discharged or released from their military duties under
conditions other than dishonorable.
