And it
appears that this time, Cuomo might be listening: Though the governor has yet to make any public remarks on the matter, both the Times's Emma Fitzsimmons and NY1's Zack Fink reported via Twitter that Cuomo is looking at how to implement some form of
congestion pricing in the city, with the proposal to (potentially) be discussed when the New York State legislature reconvenes for its next session in January.
There's that new
congestion pricing plan authored and promoted by former city traffic commissioner (Gridlock) Sam Schwartz, which for now
appears all but dead.
The mayor did not acknowledge the existence of the Move New York plan, instead
appearing to again reference the fact that Cuomo — who has said it is time to reconsider
congestion pricing and is expected to unveil his own proposal in January — has not yet outlined his own proposal.
He also
appeared to take one of several jabs at de Blasio, who opposes
congestion pricing and wants to see an added tax on high earners to additionally fund the MTA.
