consider the first AC an open world
game,
given that the plot
goes in a particular order and there's no way to deviate from it, as well as the fact that while you can pick and choose what to do and when while in a city, you do eventually have to do all of it to progress the story.

game is key to enjoying this
game at it's fullest, if you love third person shooters wrapped in a deep and thoughtfully written story and you have a PlayStation Vita, then you might want to
consider giving this one a
go.
