No, because I was privileged to have myriad protective factors in my life that buffered life's challenges: parents who provided steady and
consistent unconditional acceptance, a strong spiritual identity that allowed me to look beyond current circumstances, and teachers who practiced cultural sensitivity before such a thing knew to exist.
What works on one, or many, will completely fail on others; the only thing that is
consistent is that they will need lots of patience, understanding, love, and probably most importantly,
unconditional acceptance of what they are and what their limitations may be.
