2017 - Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch as it's next
console at a press event in Tokyo on January 13th, 2017.
Sony announced the new
consoles at a press event in the Playstation Theater in New York City today.

Nintendo continues to merrily separate itself from not only traditional gaming
events (it hosted a painfully flat Nintendo Direct
at E3 instead of hosting a
press conference), but also from the traditional
console cycle.
Planned for PC and
consoles, The Plague will be unveiled
at the beginning of February to international video game
press at What's Next de Focus, the Paris
event showcasing games currently in production
at Focus.
There's a reason for this, and it begins all the way back to when Microsoft's Bill Gates started pitching the
console at Tokyo Game Show 2001 — a prominent industry
event that brings together all the local
press and developers to cover the latest and the greatest and showcase their wares.
The
console itself wasn't unveiled
at this
press event, unfortunately it looks like we may have to wait until E3 to see the PS4 in the flesh.
EB Games National Brand,
Events and Engagement Manager Debra McGrath expressed her excitement in a recent
press release for the
consoles appearance and that it will be open to everyone
at the
event.
During the
press event NVIDIA hosted
at Gamescom 2017, Final Fantasy 15 Windows Edition has been revealed, thus confirming that the latest JRPG by Square Enix will also arrive on PC, after the
console releases on PS4 and Xbox One.
