Three part lesson on
constructing histograms with a starter activity which revisits unit 2 work.
In this video presentation we look at
constructing a histogram for continuous data and also finding the class - width and then dividing the frequency by class width to find the frequency density.
In this activity, students learn how to
construct a histogram for the stars in a star field, bin them according to their apparent magnitude and answer questions related to the chart.

Unit 4 Statistics I (Collecting and Representing Data; Correlation) • Design and criticise questionnaires (C) • Use stratified sampling methods (A) •
Construct and use pie charts and frequency polygons (D) •
Construct and interpret
histograms with unequal class intervals (A) • Draw and use a line of best fit on scattergraph (C)
The method for calculating the rank
histograms in this study is the same as that described in AH10 and Y12, and involves
constructing rank
histograms for the gridded mean climatic state of the model ensembles for the present - day climate with respect to various observational data sets.
