You'd be surprised which foods
contain FODMAPs, a sample includes apples, wheat products (like bread, biscuits or pasta), legumes, cows milk, cashews, onions and garlic.

contain FODMAPs.
Unlike other nutrient data for vitamins and minerals, information on which foods
contain FODMAPs is not readily available to the public.

Gail, if the silk milk contains whole soybean and I believe that to be the case in the 2 brands you mentioned — then it would likely
contain FODMAPs.
The low FODMAP diet is not a gluten free diet — but there is some overlap btw the diets as wheat, barley and rye are the sources of gluten in the diet and also
contain FODMAPs - particularly fructans.
One of my questions is... Should I be eating foods that
contain FODMAPS to help the test be more accurate?
I encourage my clients to limit to 1 moderate
containing FODMAP food per sitting, in general.
But even foods that
contain FODMAPs may be tolerated in small quantities, so again, it depends on the person.
It involves the elimination of foods that
contain FODMAPs, carbohydrates that have been shown to contribute to the symptoms of IBS.
Also, for some people, a small amount of honey can be tolerated though
it contains FODMAPs.
Examples of foods that
contain FODMAPs are grains like wheat, barley, and rye, beans, dairy, and quite a few fruits and vegetables.
Not exact matches
Many sauces, condiments, salad dressings, convenience bars, soups and stocks
contain high -
FODMAPs.
Although it
contains chickpeas, these are allowed on the low
FODMAP diet up to a serving size of 42g (according to the Monash app).
Because the symptoms attributed to gluten intolerance overlap those of IBS, it may well be that people who get symptoms from eating bread and pasta and other gluten -
containing foods are actually reacting to
FODMAPs in wheat rather than the gluten protein.
Most of the low

fodmap diet!
Keep in mind that
FODMAP loads are cumulative, and this recipe
contains three fructan foods which bumps up it's fructan total load.
I still do eat high
FODMAP foods because they may be harder to digest, but still
contain plenty of vital nutrientsm such as onions, avocados, peaches, black beans, rye, grapes, cabbage, beetroot, and garlic!
SO bottomline: Whole soybeans or products made with the whole soybean such as soy flour likely
contain too many
FODMAPs to be allowed on the low
FODMAP diet.
Rice milk may aggravate your gut as some brands
contain chicory root which is a
FODMAP source — so look back at the brand to be sure it wasn't an additive added to your rice milk rather than the milk itself that caused you problems.
Garlic
contains WATER soluble fructans (a
FODMAP source) so if you use garlic in a water - based mixture such as a brine — then the
FODMAPs can leach out and potentially be troublesome.

Hi Marsha, I would minimize juices on the low
FODMAP diet overall — a splash of cranberry or orange juice should be okay — but wouldn't go for a big cup full as it tends to
contain a big fructose load.
