Throughout this and next year, and in collaboration with five partners, the Whitechapel
Gallery leads a
programme of public events and research exploring the relationship between
contemporary art and the rural.
With the appointment of David Thorp as Director in 1992, the
Gallery came to be known as the South London
Gallery with a

Taking place each year in March, Art Dubai presents a select yet diverse line - up of around 90
galleries from the UAE and around the world, across three

Contemporary; Modern, devoted to masters from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia; and Marker, a curated section of artspaces that focuses each year on a particular theme or geography.

gallery's heart seems to lie with painting, there is no sense of undue restraint in the

The Ashmolean Museum is eager to expand on its current commitment to
contemporary art, from October 2013 the museum will begin a series of exhibitions of
contemporary art in a refurbished
gallery on the upper floor and a permanent
gallery for
contemporary art is included in plans for the next phase of the building
programme.
