Christine Eyene is a Research Fellow in Contemporary Art at the University of Central Lancashire where she works on Making Histories Visible, an interdisciplinary visual arts research project led by Lubaina Himid MBE artist and Professor of Contemporary Art at UCLan.

Bertrand Lavier is a French visual and contemporary artist born in Châtillon - sur - Seine (Côte - d'Or) on 14 June 1949.

Curators Sarah Perks (HOME Director of Visual Art), with Olya Sova and Anya Harrison of The New Social, will lead a curator tour of this new group exhibition which seeks to redress the legacy of the Russian Revolution on its centenary by exploring how contemporary artists are responding to the state of the «New East» today.

Brielmaier is the author of «Re-Position / Re-Present: Notes on Contemporary Photography of the Maghreb» (NAZAR: Photographs from the Arab World, Noorderlicht, The Fries Museum, The Netherlands, 2004) and Hector Acebes: Portraits in Africa 1948 - 1953 (University of Washington Press, 2004) and has written and lectured on international art and photography for PARKETT Series with Contemporary Artists, Aperture Magazine, Nka: Journal for Contemporary African Art, The Solomon R. Working Artist Project recipient Xie Coamin's exhibition Samsāra, currently on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, combines the Buddhist mandala with the imagery of the World Trade Center in an abstracted composition that evokes the visual culture of his Chinese background alongside the documentation of United States history.

It continues with works from the world's leading innovators in the arts, as they break through thresholds of space, memory, sound, and genre — from Philippe Parreno who, in his largest exhibition in the U.S. to date, transforms the presentation of visual art into an evolving sensory journey; to Wayne McGregor, Olafur Eliasson, and Jamie xx as they create a new contemporary ballet; to avant - garde performance artist Laurie Anderson who, through a site - specific installation in the Armory's drill hall, will expand upon her work with storytelling and technology to create a site - specific environment that serves as a meditation on time, identity, surveillance and freedom; and finally to Igor Levit and Marina Abramović as they interpret Bach's renowned Goldberg Variations, to create a concentrated durational performance that reflects upon music, time, space, emptiness, and luminosity.

Harlem Postcards is an ongoing project that invites contemporary artists of diverse backgrounds to reflect on Harlem as a site of cultural activity, political vitality, visual stimuli, artistic contemplation and creative production.
