Working Artist Project recipient Xie Coamin's exhibition Samsāra, currently on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, combines the Buddhist mandala with the imagery of the World Trade Center in an abstracted composition that evokes the visual culture of his Chinese background alongside the documentation of United States history.

It continues with works from the world's leading innovators in the arts, as they break through thresholds of space, memory, sound, and genre — from Philippe Parreno who, in his largest exhibition in the U.S. to date, transforms the presentation of visual art into an evolving sensory journey; to Wayne McGregor, Olafur Eliasson, and Jamie xx as they create a new contemporary ballet; to avant - garde performance artist Laurie Anderson who, through a site - specific installation in the Armory's drill hall, will expand upon her work with storytelling and technology to create a site - specific environment that serves as a meditation on time, identity, surveillance and freedom; and finally to Igor Levit and Marina Abramović as they interpret Bach's renowned Goldberg Variations, to create a concentrated durational performance that reflects upon music, time, space, emptiness, and luminosity.

Performance artist, MLu Zondi lights up the Highways Performance Space with his performance art work that seamlessly weaves together the various art forms of visual art, contemporary dance, acting and poetry that audiences will find both emotionally inspiring and intellectually compelling.

It is the only contemporary arts organization fully committed to HIV prevention and AIDS awareness through producing and presenting visual art projects, while assisting artists living with HIV / AIDS.

Composed by Stevie Jones, and performed together with Georgie McGeown, visual artist Vikki Morton (Muscles of Joy, Suckle) and Trembling Bell's Alex Neilson, Light the Currents is a bright and buoyant acoustic arrangement in two parts; the first written for a special performance at an exhibition of artwork by Katy Dove at Dundee Contemporary Arts in October 2016, the second written afterwards as a response to the exhibition and the experience of playing there.

It identifies, recognises and supports contemporary visual artists who engage with the human condition, social reality and lived experience and is best known for its biennial international Exhibition and Prize which takes place in Cardiff.

These recreations and historical art works are brought into dialogue with new commissions and recent works by contemporary visual and performing artists, among them Abraham Cruzvillegas, Melvin Edwards, Janice Kerbel, Irina Korina, Barbara Kruger, Christian Nyampeta, Florian Pumhösl, Wolfgang Tillmans and Mikhail Tolmachev...

The gallery represents a group of international artists who are producing significant works of lasting value that explore, engage and resonate with contemporary visual culture.

A reception will then follow in the galleries where the 2018 Invitational Exhibition of Visual Arts, with works by 35 contemporary artists, will be on view.

With backgrounds in contemporary visual art, media and fashion, the eight artists featured in the exhibition have been identified as leading makers whose quilts act as non-functional art pieces.

The work included a costume collaboration with visual artist Maia Ruth Lee, and received funding from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant.

He has recently worked on an important appeal under the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990 on behalf of the Swiss installation artist Christoph Büchel in the artist's highly publicized dispute with the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.

This exhibition will be the third installment of the series, which began in 2015 with an exhibition curated by visual artist and composer Mark Mothersbaugh, and continues in early 2017 with an exhibition curated by contemporary artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel.

Comprising programmes from the ICA Artists» Moving Image Network alongside several additional live events, the festival brings together a cross-section of work that engages with the language of contemporary visual culture to draw out critical and discursive reflections on its wider social influences.
