Sean Kelly announces From Pre-History to Post-Everything, a group exhibition that presents ancient objects alongside contemporary paintings, providing the opportunity for a visual dialogue between the forms found in ancient cultures and the forms being investigated by today's youngest generation of painters working with abstraction.

She is currently writing a chapter on (in) visible space that covers the visual essays, as part of the anthology to be published from the Contemporary South Asian Youth Cultures and Fashion conference, at London College of Fashion, edited by Professor Reina Lewis.
Varejão will include works from her two most recent series: Kindred Spirits, 29 portraits of the artist donning the face painting and body ornamentation of Native American tribes intermixed with markings derived from artworks by Minimalist and contemporary American artists, and the Mimbres paintings, which reference the visual culture of the Mimbres people who inhabited the American Southwest in the 11th century.

Ganesh draws from a broad range of material, including the iconography of Hindu, Greek and Buddhist mythology, 19th century European portraiture and fairytales, archival photography, and song lyrics, as well as contemporary visual culture such as Bollywood posters, anime, and comic books.
This emphasis on immersive interactivity is a reflection of the artist's changed perception of contemporary culture after his indigenous visits: «Our visual sense is very powerful and goes directly into our minds, but I feel that we need to receive from our entire bodies and not just our minds,» tells Neto.
Matsuyama is influenced by a variety of subjects, including Japanese art from the Edo and Meiji eras, classical Greek and Roman statuary, French Renaissance painting, post-war contemporary art, and the visual language of global, popular culture as embodied by mass - produced commodities.
Yet, due to the visual superimpositions of present times, artists have started to shy away from the rigid limitations of - isms related to the «non-objective» or «reductive» and have embedded existing ideas, confluence of styles and approaches into the contemporary world, the here and now, mingling with popular culture as well as branching out of the studio practice inherent in painting as we know it and as the majority still likes to understand it.
