I suggest that... we are not at the beginning of
continually accelerating change, but that we are in the middle of a unique transition crisis, like adolescence, as we make the jump from an undeveloped scientific and technological society to a fully developed one....
While there is nothing in the Historical Society show to shock today's art audience, the broader currents of modernity that it represents are as active now as they ever were, and arguably even more so, as
changes of all kinds seem to be
continually accelerating worldwide.
