Another form of this dualism is the commonly made claim that the evolutionary process
continues on the human level with cultural evolution, which is totally distinct from biological evolution.

They report in the journal Climatic Change that, if
humans continue to burn fossil fuels at an accelerating rate, and as average global temperatures creep up by the predicted 4 °C above historic
levels, then
on the hottest days, between 10 % and 30 % of fully - loaded planes may have to remove fuel, cargo or passengers before they can take off: either that, or flights will have to be delayed to the cooler hours.
It is reasonable to assume that
human CO2 emissions will
continue to grow at a slightly higher
level than population, despite the fact that there is considerable pressure
on fossil fuels (economic as well as environmental) and the carbon efficiency of all nations is continuously improving (especially in the developed nations).
[reposted
on behalf of john mann] Re: «At May 22, 2006 10:42 PM, Peter K. Anderson a.k.a. Hartlod (tm) said...... alteration in coastline of the Mediterranean (where consistent
human settlement has established such records) shows that the situation you present NEVER existed» I think you're implying that sea

continued to rise in the mediterranean.
This has always been the only serious risk and what must be avoided if the US and the developed world is to have a prosperous future that will allow
humans to have access to the fossil fuel - generated energy needed for
continued economic progress and improved
human welfare and if plants are to not to lose partial access to one of their basic nutrients (assumming CO2 emissions reductions have any real effects
on atmospheric CO2
levels).

«Climate science» as it is used by warmists implies adherence to a set of beliefs: (1) Increasing greenhouse gas concentrations will warm the Earth's surface and atmosphere; (2)
Human production of CO2 is producing significant increases in CO2 concentration; (3) The rate of rise of temperature in the 20th and 21st centuries is unprecedented compared to the rates of change of temperature in the previous two millennia and this can only be due to rising greenhouse gas concentrations; (4) The climate of the 19th century was ideal and may be taken as a standard to compare against any current climate; (5) global climate models, while still not perfect, are good enough to indicate that
continued use of fossil fuels at projected rates in the 21st century will cause the CO2 concentration to rise to a high
level by 2100 (possibly 700 to 900 ppm); (6) The global average temperature under this condition will rise more than 3 °C from the late 19th century ideal; (7) The negative impact
on humanity of such a rise will be enormous; (8) The only alternative to such a disaster is to immediately and sharply reduce CO2 emissions (reducing emissions in 2050 by 80 % compared to today's rate) and
continue further reductions after 2050; (9) Even with such draconian CO2 reductions, the CO2 concentration is likely to reach at least 450 to 500 ppm by 2100 resulting in significant damage to humanity; (10) Such reductions in CO2 emissions are technically feasible and economically affordable while providing adequate energy to a growing world population that is increasingly industrializing.
Those who want to preserve the status quo have
continued to deny and attack the expert consensus because it's a «gateway belief»: when people are aware of the high
level of scientific agreement
on human - caused global warming, they're more likely to accept that climate change is happening, that
humans are causing it, and support policies to reduce carbon pollution.
As the above chart
on the right indicates however, despite the modest global warming since the 1970's, and the massive increase of
human CO2
levels, world rice production increased and
continues to do so.
Meanwhile, carbon dioxide
levels continue to rise, and hardly anyone doubts anymore that projects to pull carbon dioxide emissions out of the air will be a necessary transitional measure if the population of
humans on Earth hope to
continue energy - spurred growth while converting to renewable energy sources.
Suffering the Science: Climate change, people and poverty goes into greater detail, but in short the report says that hunger, disaster and disease will be the «new normal»: At 5 °C Rise Billions Could Die Even at 2 °C temperature increases, some 660 million people could be forced into devastating conditions the report says; and if we
continue to follow a business - as - usual trajectory and allow something
on the order of 5 °C temperature rise,
human population
levels could be reduced to just one billion people by the end of the century.
