In the seven states where Republicans had complete
control over the redistricting process, Republican House candidates received 16.7 million votes and Democratic House candidates received 16.4 million votes.

over the next two years will play a major role in the decennial
redistricting process that will help determine
control of Congress for the foreseeable future.
That would in essence give Senate Republicans permanent veto power
over any
redistricting plan Senate Democrats would put forward if they win
control of that chamber in the next decade.
