In this sense, Richter's Abstraktes Bild (903 - 7) is
a conventional easel picture made by unconventional means.
She has cited a collection of photographs of Jackson Pollock working on his paintings on the floor, as an early inspiration which encouraged her to work without brushes and with physical movements, unlike those of
conventional easel painters.
By building layer upon layer of close valued, luminous colored strokes of oil paint, across areas and vast fields of highly keyed, chromatically rich, and close valued color, Monet achieved a look and feel that goes well beyond
conventional easel painting.

In the exhibition, the two big, blazing - fireplace images are followed by the final room, which features a very different selection of work: seven
conventional - size
easel paintings in oil on linen.
