With UR
points being so easy to
earn with the 5 % categories
on a freedom I almost always recommend
converting to a freedom from any other Chase
card.
All of the credit
cards mentioned above offer you Ultimate Rewards in return for spending
on the
cards (the Freedom
cards and the Ink Cash
card offer cash back which can be
converted to Ultimate Rewards
points if you hold another Ultimate Rewards
card) and, while you're guaranteed at least 1
point per dollar you spend, most of these
cards also come with category spending bonuses where you
earn yet more.
Since one SPG
point converts to THREE Marriott
points you are effectively
earning 3 Marriott
points on EVERY purchase you make
on your Starwood
card.
The A + Rewards you
earn on your new
card can be redeemed for flights
on AirTran or Southwest (you can
convert points through rewardsfarther.com).
Remember, certain
cards like your American Express Platinum will
earn 3X membership rewards per $ 1 spent as well, so essentially, this JetBlue offer is allowing you to legally double - dip
on earnings that can be
converted into frequent flier
points.
There's no cap
on the total amount you can
earn either, so if your company uses the Business Advantage Travel Rewards
card for most purchases, you could potentially collect a huge number of
points that can later be
converted into free travel.
Remember too that the
card is a potent companion to the Chase Freedom, since it allows you to «
convert» the cash back you
earn on the Freedom to much more valuable (and transferable) Ultimate Rewards

To hit the annual thresholds, I would have to divert spending from categories that are already bonused as much or more
on other
cards (groceries, gas, travel) only to have the
points I
earned convert at a lower rate.
