I made it with fresh apples that I had just pureed with a vitamix, so it was a little undersweet (

Modifications were: - used traditional oats because I didn't have quick
cook, just gave them a quick zap in the Nutribullet and kept 1/4 cup unground for texture - omitted hemp seeds because I don't have those - unsweetened
applesauce instead of bananas (love bananas but wanted my blueberries to have center stage)- I'm not vegan so I used 2 medium eggs - replaced 1 tbsp peanut butter with mayo (love peanut butter but not necessarily mixed with other flavors)- threw in maybe 1/2 tsp chia seeds just for grins Baking time was right around 35 minutes in a 8 × 8 Pyrex baking dish and I left them to cool all day and cut them into 9 bars this evening.
There are many variations also — some people stick a piece of apple in the middle when it is half - way done
cooking, others use
applesauce, Nutella, banana — really anything you like!
Cook, stirring often, until it reaches the consistency of
applesauce, about 10 - 15 minutes.

I adore unsweetened
applesauce and can just imagine how fantastic it makes the house smell while it's
cooking up.
I did add 1.5 T of coconut flour and
applesauce instead of apple, but still had problems with the even
cook and flip.
** If using the smaller amount of honey, reduce
cooking time by 5 minutes or add 1/4 cup
applesauce to the mix.
we eat them year round
cooked in schmaltz (chicken fat) with raw sour cream and homemade
applesauce.
We added an extra banana in lieu of
applesauce and baked in a 8 × 8 square pan to reduce
cook times and for easier pan removal (came out fine while warm).
I think I'll add less apple juice (maybe switch to
applesauce) and dehydrate it on low temp instead of
