rice is too hard, add additional broth 1/4 cup
at a time, and continue
cooking on high, covered, in 1 - minute intervals, until
rice is tender and chewy.
However, here are two ways you could go with this: 1) the more reliable way would be to
cook the pasta separately, according to package directions, and then add it to the soup before serving, or 2) add it directly to the soup, and use your judgment to determine when the noodles have
cooked through — plan on
at least 10 additional minutes — might be longer because of the brown
rice.

I have been staring
at the steamer attachment for my
rice cooker for years, and it's just sat in the furnace room of my basement, untouched, the entire time.
I had a
rice cooker I bought for $ 3.99
at Goodwill before this and sure, it worked; more or less.
Most recently, we convened
at the Gelpi's lovely home to
cook and consume a delightful fiesta of homemade pico, guacamole and chips with Coronoas shots of tequila (for Juan and me — my first in my entire life, late bloomer that I am), tortilla soup with roasted pepitas — veganized from a recipe my mother got from the Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas — Juan's seitan mole over herbed
rice, homemade tortillas, and, for dessert, Barbara's apple - oatmeal crisp and my flan.
But brown
rice also contains a good dose of protein,
at 5g per
cooked cup.
My
rice cooker simply stops
cooking at the right time, beeps to tell me it is ready, and then goes into a warming mode.
I am a total and complete failure
at cooking rice on the stove.
So, if you're short on time and are looking for a convenient way to
cook red beans for one or if you're working during the day and want to come home to a fabulous meal
at the end of your day, this slow
cooker red beans and
rice recipe is ideal for you.
I halved the recipe (still made about four servings for me), and I used half a cup of leftover
cooked brown
rice (I guessed
at the amount) instead of uncooked
rice.
Recover and continue
cooking on high for about 1 hour (turn to high
at this point if you were
cooking on low), until the
rice is soft and has absorbed most of the liquid.
If you don't have farro
at home, use brown
rice or quinoa instead — just be sure to adjust the
cooking time accordingly.
And I admit, I kind of suck
at cooking rice — it often comes out underdone or overcooked and mushy.
Stir
cooked rice into the soup then add a little bit of lime juice
at a time until desired taste is reached.
Working in batches, add a couple of
rice balls to the hot oil
at a time and
cook until the bread crumbs are brown and the
rice balls are completely heated through.
You'll may want to
cook up some white or brown
rice, like
at the restaurant.
This recipe creates a sweet and tender chicken that is perfect served over
rice and it's easy to make
at home in the slow
cooker!

at our vacation home; my dad and I used to stay
at the beach until 1 pm while my mum was
cooking lunch, that often consisted in «riso al tonno» —
rice + tomato sauce + canned tuna.
Assemble poke bowls by placing a layer of
cooked rice and kale
at the bottom and top with favorite toppings.
I tried
cooking both prawns and brussels sprouts &
rice at the same time but ended up in a slight disaster with frying pan slightly over turning with hot oil on counter top.
Also my
cooking appliances are limited to a toaster oven, a tea kettle, a
rice cooker, a hotplate, and an over-enthusiastic electric wok (and only one of these can be plugged in
at a time without being relocated, or fuses will blow).
OK, here are some favorites we've been
cooking up
at my place: - vegetable curry (grind my own whole spices, use whatever veggies we get in our weekly CSA share; radishes / beets, eggplant, squash, greens, etc)- quick kale (sauteed with coconut oil, chili flakes, garlic, [lemon grass], soy sauce, lemon juice)- pac choi w / sauteed mushrooms «chinese» style (with fish sauce,
rice wine vinegar, jalepeno / chili, soy sauce, etc)- roasted radishes w / poached eggs - «teamwork pasta» — this is your recipe for pepper and cheese pasta, but it helps having two sets of hands to make it in our house... we put an egg on this too of course - tuna pasta (chopped onion, garlic, lemon zest, chili flakes, tuna, olives — easily adaptable to what you already have in the house and like)- roast chicken on friday - roasted sweet potatoes - omlets - challa french toast
My current favourite veg is pak choi — whatever other veg I'm stir frying, I'll add a whole pak choi for each of us
at the end of the
cooking time, steam it over the
rice or noodles until soft and then quickly toss it in the pan in hot sesame oil and garlic.
My family favorite recipe is my mom's fish curry (Indian fish curry), it has very few ingredients, but she is a master
at cooking it, it is little spicy and oh so yummy with
rice.
