Rest, lots of water, and even
cool cabbage leaves placed inside your nursing bra will help as well.
When the cabbage leaves warm up to body temperature, remove them and replace them with more
cool cabbage leaves.
Line the inside of your bra with
cool cabbage leaves.
If engorgement is a problem try applying
cooled cabbage leaves to the breasts.
Place a warm or
cool cabbage leaf inside bra and replace every 2 hrs.

After removing some
leaves,
leave them to drain and
cool down in a large colander and continue cooking the rest of the
cabbage until you are able to remove all the
leaves.
However, if your
cabbage leaves seem to be tough, it would be a good idea to parboil the
leaves and let them
cool and dry before stuffing them.
Cool quickly by dunking the
cabbage leaves into the ice water for 1 minute.

Place
cabbage leaves on a baking sheet until

Other suggestions: intermittent ice packs to breasts, or continuous wearing of
cool green

cabbage) peppermint or sage tea, or a night time dose of Benadryl for the mother.

cool compresses, Lactation Consultant swears by using green
cabbage leaves for engorgement.
Common treatments for engorgement, which typically occurs as your breast milk comes in when your baby is two to five days old, include continuing to feed on demand at least 8 to 12 times a day, warm compresses, gentle breast massage,
cool compresses or ice packs, and even
cabbage leave compresses.
While
cabbage leaves have a reputation for reducing engorgement (maybe because they are breast - shaped and
cool if refrigerated) they haven't been found to be any more effective than any other
cool compress.
If the breasts become engorged, or too full of milk a mother can always use a
cool compress or
cabbage leaves for relief.
Experts are not sure if there are actual healing properties in the
cabbage leaves, or if it is the
cool compress they provide, but they do in fact work wonders for many moms who must stop breastfeeding right away.
