The additional
gallery space enables Skarstedt to expand on its
core program of museum - quality, historically researched exhibitions from modern and contemporary masters.
In addition to the
core curriculum and as part of the School's mission to make art accessible to everyone in the community, BSSS offers: an art
gallery with rotating exhibits by guest artists, instructors and students; several offsite exhibit opportunities; a high quality Travel Study
program; Open Session figure drawing; and numerous free community
programs including monitored art discussions, lectures, and peer critiques.
All proceeds support our four
core programs: Cuchifritos
Gallery + Project Space, LES Studio
Program, LES Artist Registry, and Art (Inter) Actions.
In the Graduate Seminar, students schedule studio visits with curators from local
galleries and institutions like the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Menil Collection, Project Row Houses, the
Core Program, the Blaffer Art Museum, and the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston.
While the
gallery's roster includes sought - after young American artists like Sadie Laska, Sarah Braman, Trudy Benson, and Joe Fyfe, at the
core of the
program are 13 historically important French artists from the Supports / Surfaces movement, including Claude Viallat and Noël Dolla, whose works will feature in the
gallery's Art Basel in Miami Beach booth.
In addition to the
core Artist - in - Residence
Program (open call or invitation), McColl Center offers an annual Environmental Artist - in - Residence
Program (invitation only), a Carolinas HealthCare System Artist - in - Residence
Program (spring season; open call), a residency for a UNC Charlotte art professor (fall season; invitation only), a Summer Affiliate
Program for artists living within a 50 - mile radius of Charlotte (open call), and a new exhibition residency that transforms McColl Center's first - floor
gallery into an open studio for artists to explore processes and projects (invitation or open call).
The interwar
gallery will be presented by the
Core Exhibition
Program Director Prof. Barbara Kirshenblatt - Gimblett and Tamara Sztyma, who, along with Michał Majewski, is one of the
gallery's curators.

Beers.Lambert Contemporary is an art
gallery based in London at the
core of the vibrant East - Central art scene, between Old Street and The City, with an exhibition
program dedicated to the exploration of relevant issues through progressive, contemporary art.
Designed to be an important component of the fair, EXPOSURE affords up to 20
galleries, in business up to five years, the opportunity to showcase a select part of their
program within the
core of the exposition.
