The case of Glasgow is telling in this respect: while being one of the few local
areas in Scotland
voting majority for Scottish independence (BBC News 2014), the city joined the English
Core Cities group at the same time.
It was actually 62 % of labour voters
voted to remain, and the labour
vote, in 2015 was made up of many people who'd
voted Libdem, or greens in 2010, labour having lost several of its supporters who'd
voted for us in 2010 when Gordon was leader, and many who'd
voted labour since the 60's, not
voting for us for the first time, but the fact was, with our Scittish and inner London, Manchester, Liverpool

areas called our heartlands, and Scotland aside,

votes in, at the last election, without catching those swing seats, meant that many of our traditional

He also warned that Labour had to rebuild its working class base of support following last Thursday's elections: «It's the middle ground that's actually remaining with Labour, it's the
core traditional working class
areas and
votes that are moving away.»
