So I was wonderfully delighted when my oldest daughter converted a traditional recipe for
cranberry sauce into a honey sweetened version that tastes every bit as good as my old favorite.

into compliance with the Thanksgiving mood when tiny, weightless white pellets began to drop from the sky.

It starts with cooking fresh

cranberries have broken down and you end up with a thick and syrupy
sauce that won't seep too much
into the cake batter during baking.
1 delicata squash, halved and sliced

The exotic flavored
cranberry sauce has been a fun treat to enjoy all week, both as a
sauce for my turkey and stirred
into my morning parfait.
Cranberries aren't the only fruits to release pectin, and any online search for «compote recipe» will show you just how many types of fruits out there can be cooked down
into a fruit
sauce.
Since it's very sour, you can either sweeten it with honey (heat them in a
sauce pan until the honey dissolves
into the juice), dilute with equal parts of pure blueberry juice (blueberries prevent bladder infections likely through the same mechanism) or make
cranberry vinaigrette to serve on your salads.
But no matter how much people like
cranberry sauce, they're not injecting it
into their veins.
I make homemade
cranberry sauce every Thanksgiving... and then proceed to eat most of it myself, mixed
into my morning oatmeal!
The harvested
cranberries can be made
into juice, jams and
sauces as well as dried and made
into supplements.
Don't let your leftover
cranberry sauce go to waste; turn them
into a festive margarita or mocktail.
Save some of your sugar allowance for the pumpkin pie (and apple... and pecan) by making your own
cranberry sauce at home — that way you can control how much of the sweet stuff goes
into it.
The added sugar that gets heaped
into cranberry sauce is not good for your furry friends.
