@CharlieRB I was thinking, if the pcv valve is clogged or stuck, there should be positive
pressure in the
crankcase, caused by blow - by.
The Blower is used to provide a positive air flow to the
crankcase, at relatively low
pressure, but more than atmosphere.
The valve is located on the side of the engine block, and serves to vent excess
pressure out of the
crankcase.
Because the extra
pressure in the
crankcase often contains atomized oil and in some cases un-burnt fuel, the PCV valve routes these gasses back into the intake plenum, such that they can be used in the combustion cycle and exhausted out the tailpipe.
The
pressure is created by the churning and heating of oil, as well as some of the combustion gasses escaping past the piston rings into the
crankcase (known as blow - by).

crankcase design which is very rigid and allows cylinder
pressures to be increased for improved power output.
But thanks to a modified turbocharger, which has higher maximum charge
pressure and a reinforced
crankcase, output is upped by 100 hp and 51 lb - ft of torque to 395 hp (equating to 400 PS, hence its name) and 332 lb - ft.

Excessive
pressure inside the
crankcase will cause oil leaks from many places, including the rear main seal.
Turbocharged engines also experience periods of high intake manifold
pressure during which the PCV valve is closed and the
crankcase fumes are admitted to the engine via the breather and air cleaner.
The same system is partially responsible for the
pressure / vacuum inside the
crankcase.
Lightweight components include magnesium valve covers, aluminum
