published books are often kept
out of * industry * review and promo outlets.
I don't know what is more hysterical: the claim that Baen is gate - guarding when you consider what is coming
out of the other
publishing houses (Oh, wait, that's the lockstep
crap so it's okay.
I think the legacy pubs put
out a ton
of pure
crap for every ounce
of gold they
publish - and this has been going on for many years.
I acknowledged the «tsunami
of crap» that people expect with self -
publishing and pointed
out that we don't really see it.
This,
of course, doesn't mean that terrific self -
published novels with proper editing & revision aren't
out there, it just means that you'd have to wade through literally endless heaps
of crap to find them.
My mother and brother were sure if I
published my last manuscript that I'd be happy with the results, especially since both
of them were willing to help me market the
crap out of it.
I can see the way
of the future will be ebook, but for me that's going to be an ebook
published by a traditional publisher who has filtered
out all the other
crap.
In this new age
of publishing, there is a lot
of crap out there, too.
It SAYS it doesn't believe in anything other than Author Reader to scare the
crap out of everyone else and draw attention from the fact that it is building a platform to provide really good
publishing services to authors and really good reading services to readers.
