Developing assessment for learning in one's

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in preparation and submission of weekly lesson plans, keeping accurate records, employing effective
classroom management techniques, formally evaluating student performance,
creating rapport within working parent, colleague and administrative relationships, participating in professional developments, and maintaining accountability.
It also has some of the same advantages as departmentalization, as it allows teachers to divide the planning load and use the saved time to
create better lesson plans for the subjects that they will lead.51 While residents can't share teaching
responsibilities to the same extent that a co-teacher can, they can collaborate with teachers and provide necessary instructional support in the
classroom.
This, in effect,
creates a space where the
responsibility is shared between educator and student; it levels the playing field so that all individuals within the
classroom are drivers of their own learning.
The TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement is implemented in school districts across the country, affecting approximately 15,000 teachers and 200,000 students.46 With support from the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching, school districts
create multiple career paths for teachers, including career, mentor, and master teacher.47 Teacher leaders participate in school leadership teams with administrators, provide colleagues with regular professional learning opportunities and individualized coaching, observe and provide feedback for instructional improvement, and are compensated for these additional
responsibilities.48 Trained teacher leaders in schools using the TAP System have demonstrated an ability to evaluate
classroom instruction with accuracy and consistency, and their observations are closely aligned to student learning gains in
classrooms.49 According to Lori Johnson, a participating TAP master teacher in Phoenix, «It was the best decision I ever made professionally.
They're also working on a plan to
create a better «
classroom - friendly» career ladder which will mix teaching, mentoring and administrative
responsibilities.
During this phase of the professional development the school's subject matter experts and teaching coaches take the primary
responsibility for helping teachers
create new
classroom activities and lesson plans incorporating the new technology.
Your students have much more capacity to do important and beautiful work than you imagine; if you
create a
classroom culture that is absolutely strict in respect, kindness and commitment to quality, you can give students significant
responsibility to lead their own learning and manage the
classroom themselves.
These days, most teachers have too many
responsibilities in the
classroom and too many demands on their time to be able to
create their own curriculum.
