garden also incorporates art and seating
created by Victorian Certi cate of Applied
Learning (VCAL) students at the school.
Each team
created a display that included posters with their
learning points on sustainability, binders that included their
garden system's manual and maintenance log, and video documentaries of their team's project process.
They also
created materials to teach community residents how to lead healthier lives, and shared what they
learned by touring their communities and demonstrating how to
garden, how to prepare healthy foods, and how to integrate physical activity into daily living.
Past
learning partners have included locals who found a beehive on their property and brought it in to show kindergarten students (sans bees, of course); and a stay - at - home mom who is passionate about cooking and healthy eating, and teaches students about culinary arts and
creating healthy meals from what grows in the school's
garden.
The new design of the
garden will also be accessible to the children at the school with special educational needs,
creating a
learning environment that all children can enjoy.
Through the Farm - preneuer Program, which is connected to Walter Bracken's STEAM curriculum, fourth - grade students
learn how to
create a business from their vegetable
gardens.
