Defense attorneys for former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano are attacking
the credibility of the prosecution's key witness in his corruption case.
The ruling requires prosecutors to actively seek and turn over to defense attorneys any information — known as Giglio material, after a Supreme Court case by that name — that might be used to attack
the credibility of prosecution witnesses.
The defense in the trial of Joe Percoco has worked to hurt
the credibility of prosecution witness Todd Howe by offering examples of how the disgraced lobbyist would alter emails to pump up his own reputation.

Opening statements Wednesday in the corruption trial
of former Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano saw the
prosecution alleging Mangano «sold himself» to restaurateur Harendra Singh to maintain his lifestyle and defense attorneys attacking Singh's
credibility while shifting blame onto others.
The
prosecution of Percoco is based on statements by Howe, «someone
of utterly unreliable
credibility,» Barry Bohrer, who is representing Percoco, told reporters in New York City.

Percoco's attorney issued a statement on his behalf, saying, «This
prosecution, based on information provided by someone
of utterly unreliable
credibility, seeks to criminalize conduct that the Supreme Court
