For those students who are lucky enough to obtain a student
credit card, prudent spending
habits must be established
early on in order to prevent
credit problems in the future.
Establishing good
credit habits as
early as possible can benefit you for years to come.
Additionally, it is a useful
habit to get into
early in life, as your
credit score is a very strong reflector of your financial health and your
credit history.
For example, a real customer from Texas we'll call Kelly, who joined the LendUp community in
early 2015, exhibited borrowing
habits similar to what the CFSI calls a «misaligned cashflow borrower» (described by the CFSI as those who «tend to access small dollar
credit amounts frequently to pay bills when income and expenses are mistimed... 42 % take out 6 or more loans per year, and 16 % take out more than 12 loans per year»).
It's never too
early to teach kids responsible spending
habits and how
credit works.
Also the Humble Bundle guys have a
habit of adding more games through the remaining days of a Bundle, usually automatically
credited to gamers who buy
early.
