Base was fine I just
added a little
more maple syrup so it didn't
crumble, then I had to
add more water to the dates to get the stuff smooth, all was going ok and at this time i put it in the freezer over night so it would be solid for dipping in the chocolate — this worked out really well as it helped the chocolate set because they were so cold, but the chocolate...... disaster!
That will make the dough too dry and therefor
crumble so I'm guessing you'll need to
add more water.
If tortilla
crumbles, dough is too dry (
add more water); if it sticks to the plastic, dough is too wet (
add more masa).
If it
crumbles into dry pieces, you'll need to
add more water.
If the dough is
crumbling a bit,
add more water, if it is too goopy and wet,
add more oats.
sift 3 cups of flour in a bowl
add 1 cup of shortning and 1tsp of salt work together with hands in a bowl until somewhat mixed — not completely mixed... make a volcano like mound and pour 1/2 cup of VERY COLD
WATER slowing fold and pull together until in a ball — DO NOT KNEED OR OVER MIX - it should be still crumbly...

more flaky crust.
