There's a really great
book out there called the «No
Cry Sleep Solution» by Elizabeth Pantley and while her methods aren't necessarily quick (which isn't necessarily better!)
There are so many other things that people can do (The No
Cry Sleep Solution is a great
book full of suggestions).
It took a few days of our kid
crying himself to
sleep before he started singing or chatting or happily role - playing himself to
sleep - and now, the routine leading up to bedtime is so much fun (a few
books on the potty, brush the teeth, read another
book, a final trip to the potty, turn out the lights, start twinkle twinkle, ok another trip to the potty if you must but no piggy back this time, restart «TTLS» and he's tucked in for the night).
The No
cry sleep solution is a rather good
book though you need time to see results.
That is why I love Elizabeth Pantley's No
Cry Sleep Solution
books.

cry it out» method, Dr. William Sears, has just come out with «The Baby
Sleep Book,» written with one of his two pediatrician sons, Dr. Robert Sears, in which they urge parents to rescue their infants from
crying jags.
On network TV morning shows last month, he said he hasn't radically changed his «
cry it out» advice, but a revised edition of his
book due out in several months does explore additional techniques for helping children
sleep through the night.
It led to me nearly spending $ 75 on a CD set that promised to help me «decode» my baby's
cries, and sitting in the aisle of a used bookstore, surrounded by
books on newborn
sleep,
crying in exhaustion.
The only parenting
book I had read, at that time, was of the methodology that stated to teach your child to
sleep — you put them in their crib at
sleep times, walk away and eventually they will stop

Following this line of thought leads right to many well - meaning parents letting their infants «
cry it out» under the instruction of well - meaning doctors and so - called baby experts as well as hundreds of articles and
books telling a parent that if they do not «teach» their children to have «healthy»
sleep patterns then their children never will, and it will because the parent (s) did not stick with the short term emotional consequences of
crying it out.
The perfect companion

cry, from normal developmental changes to more painful conditions such as colic and reflux.
We are not a «
cry it out» family, but until reading Pantley's
book I wrongly assumed that there are gentle options for helping to improve the length and quality of a baby's (and my own)
