It's really hearty and bursting with warming, spicy flavours from the sesame oil to the
cumin, turmeric, ginger, mustard
seeds and chilli, plus there are subtle hints of tangy apple cider vinegar and garlic
too, which help to really bring it all together.
Of the 8 recipes that are not AIP, only 2 are due to non-negotiable nightshades, 1 for eggs, 3 for the
seed spice
cumin, and 2 for white rice (I had to include legit Arroz con Pollo and Puerto Rican Yellow Rice - but don't worry, I have grain - free versions of both,
too!)
You could try adding other things
too, green onions,
cumin seeds, masala, lemongrass... To deglaze the pan I like to use rice wine vinegar, infused vinegar or tamari but water works in a pinch.
I like it simple,
too, but I also don't mind the addition of a teeny bit of freshly toasted and ground
cumin seeds.
If you do not have
cumin seeds on hand, ground
cumin works well
too (trust me, I've tested both)
I didn't have a teaspoon / tablespoon measure, but after making the dressing I ended up straining out some of the
cumin seeds as the bite was a bit
too distracting from the honey - lemon - salty flavor which went beautifully with the salad ingredients.
I couldn't find caraway
seeds and was
too lazy to go to another grocery store so we used
cumin seeds instead, which actually worked very well.
These particular
cumin seed and coconut sweet potato wedges have a delicious and slightly crunchy coating that smells so fragrant while they're roasting,
too.
