Love... We've a few times now, and soaked the cut dates 5 mins prior or not... added half a slice of orange on top of each wedge sprinkled with sugar, added more zest and orange... All combinations work beautifully, depending on your mood... Perfect with a hot cup of tea x
I made these twice... once with homemade date syrup (dates and water soaked and blended) i added a date and cocoa powder frosting they were amazing and the second time with cane sugar and less cocoa about half a cup and no frosting... the texture was different..
Hi Cathy, if i want to sub dates for sugar or agave recipes, would 10 dates be about 3/4 cup of sugar?
I would recommend dicing the dates very finely and reducing the sugar to a couple of Tbsp in the date - sugar - cinnamon mixture (which calls for 1/3 cup), as they were totally over-the-top sweet as written - the dates are very sweet and the syrup is intensely so.
