Frieze has named Nicola Lees, former senior curator of public programs at London's Serpentine Gallery (and Hans Ulrich Obrist's understudy), will be taking over as the Frieze Foundation's curator — and while plans for the 2013 fair aren't yet set in stone, Lees says that she's «committed to an integrated approach to artistic expression.»

Louise O'Kelly (Block Universe Performance Festival) speaks to curators Capucine Perrot (formerly Tate), Lucia Pietroiusti (Serpentine Galleries), and Nicola Lees (formerly Frieze Projects) about the ecosystems of performance, and how the art form is supported and presented within London's institutional structures.

The novelist Nicola White, who in her former career as a curator commissioned Douglas Gordon's breakthrough artwork 24 Hour Psycho (1993), cites «the collective, egalitarian feel of Glasgow, the multitude of practices and groupings, the respect for hard work, the «now»».

The artist was selected from among the 206 galleries taking part in the fair by an international jury composed of Fawz Kabra, an independent curator and writer based in New York; Abaseh Mirvali, independent curator of contemporary art and architecture, designer, Mexico City and Berlin; and Nicola Ricciardi, artistic director of OGR — Officine Grandi Riparazioni of Torino.

It's building a sleek tower on the Bowery (way above the bums, darling); its trailblazing founder, Marcia Tucker, recently passed away; and it's welcoming curator Massimiliano Gioni, who all you culture vultures no doubt know is also the artistic director of the Nicola Trussardi Foundation and a collaborator (in the Wrong Gallery) with the super-duper-high-priced artist Maurizio Cattelan.

Nicola Vassell is a curator, art writer, and currently a director of Deitch Projects in New York.

The presentation at 80WSE Gallery is curated by Georgina Jackson (Director of Exhibitions & Programs, Mercer Union) and Nicola Lees (Director and Curator, 80WSE Gallery) with curatorial assistant Georgia Harrell.

Part of the curatorial team of the 55th Venice Biennale «Il Palazzo Enciclopedico», in which she was Assistant curator for artistic research and special projects, between 2006 and 2015 she worked at Fondazione Nicola Trussardi as Assistant curator and responsible for special projects, organizing and collaborating in various exhibitions of international artists including, Jennifer Allora & Guillermo Calzadilla, Pawel Althamer, Tacita Dean, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, Cyprien Gaillard, Paul McCarthy, Paola Pivi, Pipilotti Rist, and Tino Sehgal and the collective» The Great Mother ``.

The book includes texts by Sara Arrhenius, Nicolas Bourriaud and Sinziana Ravini, Marina Fokidis and Nicola Trezzi, all writers, scholars and curators who have followed Ogland's work for a longer period of time and in very different ways have been deeply influenced by her world of ideas, memories and fantasies.
