Howardena Pindell, an original exhibition curated by Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Ph.D., director of the Museum, and Anne Collins Smith,
curator of collections for the Museum, will spotlight Pindell's dynamic works from 1974 - 1986 and explore how she blends her abstract formal sensibilities, personal memory and activism through the lens of life history.
From 2001 to 2008, Gaensheimer was manager and
curator of the collection for contemporary art at the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich.

The scheme provides

Instead
of simply clearing the decks
for a tranche
of this private
collection, as other museums had in the past — the Whitechapel Art Gallery, the Guggenheim in Bilbao — the
curators decided to match his art to their own.
The
collections of British furniture and other decorative arts have been assembled
for well over a century according to the tastes
of such New York collectors as Judge Irwin Untermyer (1886 — 1973) who, in the assessment
of Luke Syson,
curator in charge
of European sculpture and decorative arts at the Met, «put together the greatest
collection of British works
of art formed in 20th - century America».
Curator of Collections Constance Kimmerle and Dorsey Reading, longtime fabricator and shop manager
for Paul Evans, will talk about the exhibition and Evans» work.
Organized by Dena M. Woodall, associate
curator of prints and drawings, and curatorial assistant Lauren Rosenblum, the exhibition features 20th - century prints from the permanent
collection selected by artists known
for their work in other disciplines — specifically sculpture, photography, painting, installation, and dance.
The exhibition is organized by Cynthia Burlingham, director and senior
curator of the Grunwald Center
for the Graphic Arts, and deputy director
of collections of the Hammer Museum.
Curator Michael Darling has pulled selections from the MCA's existing
collection (some more recent acquisitions on display
for the first time) as a representation
of overlooked but important painting created by women.
At the Hammer, Hodge will work closely with Cynthia Burlingham, deputy director
of collections and director
of the Grunwald Center
for the Graphic Arts; Douglas Fogle, chief
curator and deputy director
of exhibitions and public programs; Anne Ellegood, senior
curator;
curators Ali Subotnick and Allegra Pesenti; and adjunct

The museum's photography
curator at the time, Hugh Edwards, purchased 30 photographs from this now - legendary series
for the permanent
collection, and in 2000, the artist generously gifted a further 38 photographs — works that were openly personal and very different from his chronicling
of the state
of the country in The Americans.
Taylor's 2009 exhibition catalogue, Marcel Duchamp: Étant donnés, won both the prestigious George Wittenborn Prize and first prize
for best museum permanent
collection catalogue by the American Association
of Art Museum
Curators.
Kiefer Rodin is a curatorial collaboration between Sylvie Patry, consulting
curator at the Barnes Foundation and deputy director
for curatorial affairs and
collections at the Musée d'Orsay, and a team
of curators at the Musée Rodin: Catherine Chevillot, director, and Véronique Mattiussi, in charge
of the Rodin archives, with the collaboration
of Sophie Biass - Fabiani and Hélène Marraud.
The exhibition's
curators, Elisabeth Sussman and Elisabeth Sherman
of the Whitney and Christine Macel
of the Centre Pompidou, chose to round out the
collection's context by including artists whose works are destined
for the Whitney as well as the Pompidou, some
of whom, Weinberg noted, have their studios in the 10th and 11th arrondissements, the areas afflicted by the worst
of the carnage, where poets, dancers, critics, artists and architects were among the dead — «a strike against the heart
of Paris's creative community.»
