I've tried several «tricks» to prevent
curdled sour cream but so far, nothing has worked.
Once done turn crock pot off and allow to cool until no longer simmering to prevent
curdling sour cream or yogurt.

Fresh untreated milk «as it comes from a cow» is definitely more sensitive to going
sour and
curdling than modern store - bought, but that said I've never had a problem - and please don't throw
sour milk out, it's great in baking, and will happily sub into many dishes.

The secret to my ultimate success is three-fold: two kinds of fat, both vegan butter for flavor and vegetable oil for moistness; molasses also for deep, flavorful moisture; and the combination of
curdled soymilk and vegan
sour cream for ever - so - slightly - tangy tenderness (though using all
curdled soymilk will work nicely too).

sour cream or greek yogurt will
curdle when added so this step is important.

they usually have fruit cups for kids in the supermarket, you could use those and for buttermilk just add a tsp or so to a cup of milk to
sour it, it will look
curdled but that is the way it should be so don't worry.
