If the U.S. dollar appreciated against our loonie, then the investor would benefit not only from any increase in value in the individual stocks, but the U.S.
currency appreciation as well.
To the extent that it allows the opponents of reform to paint the issue of
currency appreciation as bowing to outside pressure, the answer is likely no.
Not exact matches
The PBoC described the devaluation
as small compared with the yuan's
appreciation in recent years or the depreciation of the
currencies of its economic rivals in Asia and Europe.
Secondly,
as guest and I have been trying to point out if the
appreciation in
currency for Japan / Germany is due to increased demand for there manufacturing exports this is not the same thing
as an
appreciation caused by increased demand for oil exports.

currencies are important in the TWI and the
appreciation against these
currencies accounts for about two - thirds of the 18 per cent rise in the TWI over the past year.
Currency Hedges
As noted by the strong
appreciation of the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index, up 6.7 % during the third quarter, the U.S. dollar has strengthened versus most global
currencies.
As a result, the real effective exchange rate of Spain has depreciated by around 7 per cent since 2008, in contrast to an
appreciation of 1 per cent in Germany — an improvement achieved despite Spain's inability to devaluate its own
currency.
Similarly, the more
currency appreciation is perceived
as «the policy which the United States is asking for», the more difficult it will likely be for the reform - oriented wing within China to win the internal political fight.
The International Air Transport Association says average fares around the world
as reported in U.S. dollars fell about 12 per cent last year, or by four to 4.5 per cent adjusted for distortions caused by the strong
appreciation in the U.S.
currency.
When one country tightens its monetary policy (i.e., raises interest rates and / or contracts its money supply) while another is easing (i.e., lowering interest rate and / or expands its money supply) or holding steady, this provides the opportunity not only for carry — assuming the country tightening its monetary policy has a higher - yielding
currency to begin with — but for capital
appreciation as well.
Just
as emerging market downturns tend to coincide with periods of weakening EM
currencies, bull markets in emerging markets are inclined to feature corresponding
appreciation in EM
currencies.
The results can be attributed to the U.S. dollar
appreciation,
as the S&P 500 ended 2015 almost flat on a
currency - neutral basis.
The premium for
currency exposures in EMD has probably never been
as small
as it is today, meaning the reliance for a superior return must be almost solely on
currency appreciation.
Our core
currency (FX) exposure positively contributed
as well, in spite of USD
